Salt+Sol is the first Salt Room in Rockford, Illinois. Halotherapy, also known as Salt Therapy, is a dry salt therapy that is provided in a man-made environment, utilizing a halo-generator. The halo-generator grinds pharmaceutical grade salt (99.99% pure sodium chloride) into microscopic particles and disperses the salt into the room like a dust. Breathing in pure sodium chloride opens the airways and increases lung capacity. Salt Therapy has amazing holistic benefits for respiratory care, skin conditions, and emotional health. When breathed in, the salt attaches to toxins in the lungs and helps break up the mucus to help excrete it. It is common to get a cough or runny nose during or after a session.
Rosa and Laura are the Salty Sisters, born and raised in Boone County, Illinois. We discovered Salt Rooms while on vacation together and were intrigued on how Salt Therapy could help our family. Thrilled with the benefits and the overall “good feeling” we received and the fact that there wasn’t a facility within 2 hours of home, we started planning to open our business. We are excited to be able to offer our community a natural, holistic option for overall wellness. Our mission is to provide a holistic approach to wellness through thoughtfulness and understanding.
Salty Facts:
How long is a Salt Session?
Depending which room you choose, sessions can last anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour.
Isn’t salt bad for you?
Some people have concerns about salt intake because of diet, high blood pressure and/or hypertension. The type of salt that is used for Salt Therapy works on a cellular level, not a digestive level. When inhaled, the amount of salt particles that enter your respiratory system is extremely low, so it doesn’t present any health risk. The salt kills bacteria, reduces inflammation and expands the airways.
What do I do in a session?
There isn’t anything special that needs to be done during a session. All you have to do is BREATHE. Some people take a nap, meditate, read a book or chat with whomever joined them. All sessions are private, so you and whoever came with you will be the only ones in the room, unless it is an open event.
What should I wear?
Dress comfortably so you can relax. Light colored clothing is best because the Salt can leave a light residue of dust, but it can be brushed off too. If you are using Salt Therapy for a skin condition, you will want to expose the affected area. If you’d like, you can bring shorts and a tank top to change into. We will ask that you take off your socks & shoes. Booties are provided, if you don’t want to go barefoot.
How many sessions do I need? How often?
Based on your conditions and symptoms, this varies from person to person. For best results, we recommend a series of treatments. Some people prefer to use Salt Therapy as a continuous preventative measure.
Is Salt Therapy Safe?
Dry Salt Therapy is 100% natural, drug-free, non-invasive treatment, with no side effects. Dry Salt Therapy is safe for all ages.
Are there any side effects for Dry Salt Therapy?
There are no harmful side effects of Dry Salt Therapy. The treatment is all natural. It is possible to experience a slight cough, tickle in the throat or a runny nose, due to mucus buildup. This is simply an indication the Salt Therapy is working to remove mucus and toxins from the lungs and airways.
What type of Salt is used for Salt Therapy?
We only use 99.99% Pure pharmaceutical grade Sodium Chloride in our halo-generators. The halo-generator grinds the salt into microscopic particles and disperses it into the salt rooms like a dust. This salt comes from the earth and seas, but it goes through a process of eliminating all debris and contaminants. It is not processed with any additives for caking agents such as table salt. We use Himalayan Salt in our Salt Rooms for decoration only.
*All of the clinical studies and research for Halotherapy (Salt Therapy) involves only using 99.99% Pure Sodium Chloride.
