Discover the importance of the iconic sock monkey to Rockford’s Industrial past. Learn how a simple sock led to the growth of a city and the creation of a universally recognized symbol.
Visitors will sew their own sock monkey with guided instruction, and tour the exhibit “The Missing Link: Sock, Monkeys and Rockford’s Industrial Past.”
Other Sock Monkey activities include:
> Pin the Tail on the Monkey
> A Sock Monkey Hospital where you can bring your monkey for repairs
> Sock Monkey puppet station
> Sock Monkey mask making
> Face painting
> Selfie station
> Popcorn
> Sock Monkey story time
> Library cards at the mobile library
> Carnival Games, including ladder toss, Plinko, coloring, can knockdown, bowling, balloon darts, and a “dunk tank”.
Sock Monkey kits are available in traditional brown, pink, red, blue, green, and yellow. Kit colors are available on a first come, first served basis.
Tickets can also be purchased at the door when you arrive.
PLEASE NOTE: The last time to begin the Sock Monkey kit workshop is 3pm. The event closes at 4pm.
