The winter solstice, also known as Yule, is one of the oldest winter celebrations in the world. It takes place on the shortest day to celebrate the rebirth of the sun and the longest night of the year. Spiritually, the winter solstice is a time to honor the light and darkness within each person. As lovely as the holidays can be, they can also be a little divisive. That’s why we love the idea of celebrating the winter solstice. It’s literally a celebration of the imminent return of sun, which we can all agree is pretty great.
